This incredible underwater photoshoot is for the terminally brave, terminally foolish or simply terminal. Italian skydiver and
extreme sportsperson Roberta Mancino's photos with a saltwater crocodile are not faked or green-screened - that is actually her and that is actually a potentially lethal
reptile next to her.
According to Right This Minute, Ms
Mancino's motive to get up close and uncomfortably personal with a croc was to learn more about their behaviour and spread awareness about them to help prevent crocodile skin being used to make bags and other accessories.
The photoshoot took place in a lagoon in Banco Chinchorro, which is an atoll reef near the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. It is believed to be one of the best places to spot American crocodiles which can grow
upto 13 feet long, reports Fox News.
"I love animals and it was my dream to do this. The dream came true. I am very happy," Ms Mancino said in a Skype interview with Right This Minute. When asked how it went, she replied saying: "To be honest, it was very very scary".
In footage accessed by Right This Minute, Ms Mancino spends time underwater in a swimsuit and scuba gear so that both she and the croc can get used to each other.
In the final photos, she wears a white dress and extends her hand to the reptile.
She was accompanied by experts for the two hours that she spent under water.
The pictures have been clicked by Eli
Martinez, who is known for his work with the Discovery and National Geographic channels.
