Touching Moment Girl Breaks through Security to Deliver Message to Pope Francis

A five-year-old girl managed to break through security surrounding Pope Francis to deliver him an important message.
Sophie Cruz, the daughter of illegal immigrants, got within feet of the Pope after making her way through thousands of people during the papal parade in Washington D.C.

Just as she got to his open-air popemobile, Secret Services stopped her, however the determined
youngster caught the eye of Pope Francis who beckoned her forward.

After he planted a kiss on her cheek, Sophie, from South Gate, Carolina, handed over a letter pleading for his intervention in her family's battle to stay in the US.

The note read:

"It stated: "I believe I have the right to live with my parents, I have the right to be happy. All immigrants just like my dad help feed this country. They deserve to live with dignity. They deserve to live with respect. They deserve an immigration reform."
MirrorUK reports it was accompanied with a hand-drawn picture of Pope Francis holding hands with children of different ethnicities.

Sophie has now been invited to watch the pope's address to Congress on Thursday where it is expected he will talk about immigration.
