Remember your school days when carrying mobile phones to class was forbidden but you still did it? Rules are meant to be broken, you
must have thought then. Sometimes it's fun to break rules but sometimes it is not. Like these young Thai navy trainees will tell you.
This video which shows what happened to some trainee officers has taken social media by
storm.
Cadets are shown standing with their iPhones and Samsung phones on the floor, and tellingly, blocks of concrete alongside.
A commanding officer asks each one of them what phone they are using. "You just bought this, right? Expensive, eh? Smash it!" he sneers.
The footage on Facebook has over a lakh views since it was published on September 14. On YouTube it fetched over 9, 000 views.
According to the Associated Press, the video also drew flak for the absurd punishment. Some
commented online that the military usually returns smart phones at the term end after seizing them.
The report also mentions that the Thai navy later issued a statement justifying their act. It said: "There is an in-house rule that those who
break the rule will destroy their phones willingly."
